Artist, Musician & Tea Expert

Steve Askew, guitarist and writer with 80's band Kajagoogoo, has had a long love affair with the music industry.

His first band, Art Nouveau was formed in 1979, which later developed into Kajagoogoo.
In January 1983, the band had huge commercial success with ‘Too Shy’ which went to the top of the charts in 7 different countries and top 5 in the U.S.
As well as 5 top 30s and several albums, the band toured extensively.

Steve went on to form Smalltown Elephants, which signed to Polydor Records in the summer of 1988.
Working on various projects, some in collaboration with Simon Phillips (Producer/Drummer) he also secured a development deal with East West Records.

As a result, Steve set up his own personal recording facility and collaborated with varied writing & recording projects.

One of these was with Lu Cozma who became his writing partner. The project saw an album and EP release and support tours in the UK and Europe over the following years.

With close friend and musician Nick Beggs, Steve formed a new writing project. Producing and performing as part of the band Industrial Salt, he had major success in Japan, consequently signing to Sony Japan.

2008, Kajagoogoo reformed with all original members.

The band had renewed success in Germany and Poland and performed their first UK tour in 27 years.

2010 Steve opened Grove Road Studios (formally Red Dot Music Studios) to the public where he records and produces musicians helping them with his experience and knowledge, as well as being a vehicle for artists to release their music.
